IWS M&E recognised in winning Pump Industry Award submission

Integrated Water Services Mechanical and Electrical (IWS M&E), a leading provider of water engineering solutions, pump optimisation and efficient asset utilisation, is thrilled that its work has been recognised in an award-winning submission at the prestigious Pump Industry Awards 2025.

Wilo UK, one of the world’s leading premium suppliers of pumps and pump systems for building services, water management and the industrial sector, won the Sustainable Contribution for a Better World Award. This win proudly celebrates its water security and optimisation project with which there was significant contribution from IWS M&E, part of South Staffordshire Plc, and sister company, G Stow.

The award recognises the team’s work on optimising the operational efficiency of borehole pumps to relieve the strain on the UK’s water infrastructure. Working with 12 major water companies, the team identified pumps that could be upgraded to secure the water supply, spotting opportunities for ground water supply, and improving reliability, water supply, energy costs, and return on investment.

In total, 260 upgraded pumps were installed by the IWS M&E team using Wilo products and solutions, including Ceram CT coating, optimised selection from K8,10 and 12 pumps, and optimised engineering selection to achieve application requirements, resulting in:

  • an average saving per pump of £39,000 equating to an energy cost saving of £10million per annum across all pumps
  • 85% reduction in pump failure, equating to a total energy saving of over 44million kWh per annum
  • 39,700 metric tonnes of CO₂ saved per annum, based on combined energy supply.

The award was presented at a special awards dinner and ceremony on Thursday 13 March at the Hilton in Burton upon Trent.

This is the second accolade which IWS M&E have received in relation to their work on borehole operational efficiency, with the team picking up the award for Water Security and Optimisation at the Wilo Group Ecolution Awards last year.

Dean Adams, IWS M&E operations director, collected the award alongside Wilo UK. He commented: “We are delighted that our work improving pump operational efficiency is continuing to receive recognition with a second prestigious award. This demonstrates the importance of water security and optimisation in saving energy and reducing CO₂ emissions for the benefit of the environment. We are proud of the impact that this project is having across the industry and hope to continue our work with other water companies.”
