Employees from IWS Water Hygiene, South Staffordshire Plc’s specialist water compliance business, recently took time out of their day to decorate the clinical area at Bury Hospice as part of the Group’s corporate social responsibility programme.
The team of ten volunteers from the company, whose services help commercial customers keep their water systems safe, helped transform the hospice’s downstairs clinical area which is used for children’s bereavement services, holistic therapists, the Christie phlebotomy and Outreach services.
This involved providing all the paint, trays, brushes and tape and painting the area to help inject a new lease of life into the space. At South Staffordshire Plc, businesses are encouraged to support local charities and give back to those organisations making a positive impact in the community.

Helen Lockwood CEO of Bury Hospice commented:
“At Bury Hospice we aim to provide the best possible support and care to patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families. Our ability to undertake this work and to develop our services is only made possible through the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. I want to thank the team from IWS Water Hygiene for their hard work and support. The new calm and soft blue hues will make such a difference to the patients who are visiting and will also have a positive effect on our team too.”
James Tattler, regional manager (north) at IWS Water Hygiene added:
“Bury Hospice is a charity that is not only local to our Heywood office but, most importantly, very close to several of our team members’ hearts. Our team really wanted to do something to help in any way we could, and we were delighted to be able to offer labour and materials to refresh the hospice’s clinical area. The project was extremely rewarding and has definitely encouraged more of our people to offer their help next time around.”
