Where we came from

IWS was born in 2004 when it moved out its parents’ house, OnSite, part of South Staffordshire plc and South Staffordshire Water and ventured out into the big wide commercial world, making its own home in Fradley near Lichfield in the Midlands.  The business has grown organically and through strategic acquisition since this time and has recently achieved its long term goal of turning over £20m per year.

IWS acquired Brocol Consultants in December 2006, who already had an excellent reputation in providing water hygiene services over a 17 year period to give IWS a home within the South West of the country, based in Bristol.

In 2008, IWS acquired Wells Water ltd, based in Bury just outside Manchester who, for 10 years had provided Legionella risk assessment and Legionella related services in the North West of England.  This became the Northern regional office for IWS and has since re-located from Bury to its new home in Heywood, 3 miles down the road.

Later on in April 2010, IWS were delighted to announce the acquisition of ION Water and Environmental Management Ltd, based in Coatbridge, Scotland. This strategic acquisition strengthened the IWS water hygiene service provision within the UK becoming our Scottish office and gateway to providing services to the Highlands and Islands.

In addition to these acquisitions, IWS Water Hygiene has also achieved a significant level of organic growth which lead to the requirement for new offices to be opened in Crayford to support our London and South East based operations, Aldershot to support our South Central and South Coast operations and a satellite office in Sunderland to support our operations in the North East. The core services provided by IWS are delivered by utilising the experience and expertise of a directly employed resource of over 430 employees.
