‘Putt-ing’ an end to bed poverty

A golf enthusiast at IWS Water Hygiene is hoping to help ‘putt’ an end to bed poverty by taking part in a fundraising golf day.

Maintenance Supervisor, Jonathan Stamp will play 72 holes to raise money for the Mr Motivator Charitable Trust. The trust raises funds for homeless charities throughout the UK and helps families to provide warm, clean, comfortable beds for their children to sleep in.

According to the children’s charity Barnardo’s, over one million children in the UK are forced to sleep on the floor or share a bed with parents or siblings, having serious consequences on their wellbeing and learning in the classroom.

Jonathan recently joined Mr Motivator for a live video chat where they talked about the charity, the golf day and how the money raised will be used by his charity to help families sleeping rough.

Jonathan commented: ‘’When I was working in London, I saw how families were affected by bed poverty. I wanted to help but didn’t know how. Mr Motivator mentioned his charity in one of his classes and I instantly remembered those families and thought this is something I can do to help those in need.’’

The event takes place on Friday 2 August, at King James VI Golf Club in Perth.
